愛知県豊橋市ののんほいパーク、植物園を散策してまいりましたので備忘録として残しておきます。
ドームを真っ二つに切断して切り口を見せたかのような温室形状で意匠性を感じます。
入り口に早速私の大好きなアロエの鉢植え。
バーベラエやストリアータなどが大鉢に植え付けられています。長期の維持は難しいと思いますが、見応えあります。
見頃の植物がわかりやすく掲示されていてありがたいですね。
ストリアータの斑入りが目を惹きます。
親は枯れてしまっていますが、横から子株が出てきていました。
原種だけでなく、交配種も沢山展示されています。
マルロシーやバーベラエ、サンセベリアなども地植えでデカく育っています。
足元にはエリナケアなど高山性のアロエもありました。
札がなかったり、小さかったりでちょっと残念です。
奇想天外とよばれるウェルウィッチア ミラビリス。
やはり直根で根が深いので背のある鉢に植っていました。
岩場の隙間にはジュクンダやハオルチアのパークシアナなどが植栽されていました。
エンセファラルトスも色々ありました。
分頭したロンギでしたのでおぉ〜。なんてみていたらその隣に
巨大なトランスベノーサスが鎮座していました。
その両脇に
開花したエンセファラルトス ヴィローサスと
エンセファラルトス フェロックスの開花株も展示されていました。
ただ、どちらも雄株でちょっぴり残念です。
どのソテツも巨大で立派な株でした。
ここからは少し早足で失礼。
先に進むと普段スコールの鳴り響くエリアにハロウィンらしい展示もありました。
先に進むと熱帯植物エリアに。
今人気のアロイドが沢山。
モンステラやハブカズラなどが滝の飛沫を受けて生き生きとしていました。
美しい花序を伸ばしていました。
グリーンの中に花や斑入りの植物が美しく冴えます。
超巨大なリュウビンタイ。小学生くらいの子供よりデカイです。ビックリしました。
得意な分野ではありませんが、癒されます。
本当に綺麗な気色でした。
ストレリチアは極楽鳥花と言われますが、まさにそれですね。
これでもかと巨大に育ったアエアエ。
子株も沢山吹いていました。
バナナは色んな品種があって丁度実もなっていました。
果樹温室も。試食できたらいいのに笑
ランや見頃の花が展示されていました。
後半駆け足でしたが、豊橋の植物園をご紹介しました。
温室はメイン温室が熱帯植物で、乾燥地帯の植物や花は少々といった印象にはなってしまいますが、個人的には満足できる展示内容でした。
この園は、動物、化石、植物、遊園地とまるっと1日遊べるくらい広いので、ご家族で来園されている方が多い印象です。

I visited the Nonhoi Park and botanical garden in Toyohashi City, Aichi Prefecture, and I’d like to record my impressions here for future reference.
The greenhouse, seen from the west gate, has a unique design that looks as if a dome was cut in half to reveal its interior.
At the entrance to the cactus greenhouse, there was a pot of aloe, one of my favorites.
Large pots were planted with varieties like Aloe barberae and Aloe striata. Maintaining these for a long time may be challenging, but they are impressive to look at.
It’s helpful that the plants in peak season are clearly displayed.
The variegated leaves of the Aloe striata are particularly eye-catching.
Though the parent plant of Freulein Chinohram had died, new shoots were emerging from the side.
In addition to the original species, many hybrid species were also on display.
Large specimens of Aloe marlothii, Aloe barberae, and Sansevieria were planted in the ground and growing robustly.
There were also alpine aloes such as Aloe erinacea at ground level.
It’s a bit disappointing that some labels were missing or too small to read.
The Welwitschia mirabilis, known as “Strange Wonders,” was planted in a tall pot due to its deep taproot.
Plants like Aloe jucunda and Haworthia parksiana were planted in crevices among the rocks.
There were many varieties of Encephalartos, including a large Encephalartos transvenosus.
Flowering Encephalartos villosus and Encephalartos ferox were also on display, though both were male plants, which was a bit of a letdown.
All the cycad specimens were large and impressive.
Moving ahead, there was a Halloween-themed display in an area usually accompanied by the sound of tropical downpours.
Entering the tropical plant area, there were many popular aroids.
Monstera and other philodendrons thrived in the mist from the waterfall.
Plants with striking inflorescences, such as Aechmea, stood out among the greenery.
The enormous Angiopteris evecta was larger than a small child, which was surprising.
Though not my area of expertise, the beautifully flowing streams and lush plants were quite soothing.
The Strelitzia, known as the bird-of-paradise, truly lived up to its name.
The giant Musa aeae had grown impressively large, with many offshoots.
Various banana varieties, including triangular and red bananas, were on display, some even bearing fruit.
The large tanks housed various tropical fish, adding to the lush environment.
In the epiphyte room, there were displays of staghorn ferns and Tillandsia.
The fluffy flowers of the Barringtonia racemosa were particularly striking.
In the room filled with floral decorations, orchids and other seasonal flowers were beautifully showcased.
The final stop was a view from the eastern side of the park.
Though I hurried through the latter part, I hope this gives you an idea of the botanical garden in Toyohashi.
The main greenhouse focuses on tropical plants, with fewer displays of arid and flowering plants, but I found it quite satisfying.
This park is extensive, offering activities ranging from animal exhibits and fossils to an amusement park, making it an excellent day out for families. If you get the chance, I highly recommend visiting.
