Overview

Aloiampelos tenuior is an accepted South African species, native to the Cape Provinces, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Provinces. [1]

Key characteristics

Growth form

A small- to medium-sized plant with branching stems; a modern treatment describes the stems as branched low down or higher. [2, 3]

Leaves

Leaves are linear-lanceolate; a modern treatment records glaucous-green leaves, while another source describes them as crowded in lax rosettes. [2, 4, 3]

Inflorescence and flowers

Inflorescences are ascending to erect and simple or 1–2-branched. Racemes are cylindrical, and the cylindrical perianth may be yellow, orange or red with yellow tips. [3]

Native to South Africa: Cape Provinces, KwaZulu-Natal and Northern Provinces. [1]

Etymology

The epithet tenuior refers to the slender branches and derives from Latin tenuis, meaning slender. [5]
