Overview

Aloe neilcrouchii is an accepted succulent shrub native to KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa. [1]

Key characteristics

Growth form

The stem is decumbent to erect, reaches 950 mm and is branched mainly from the base. [2, 3]

Leaves

The deciduous green leaves are deltoid to ovate-lanceolate, reach 430 mm long and bear numerous elongate white, somewhat tuberculate spots on both surfaces. [2, 3]

Inflorescence and flowers

The erect inflorescence is simple with a capitate raceme; the cylindric-trigonous perianth is salmon-pink, green-tipped and about 45 mm long. [2, 3]

Distribution

The native range is recorded as KwaZulu-Natal in South Africa. [1]

Habitat

It occurs on southeast-facing rocky grassland slopes in Drakensberg Foothill Moist Grassland. [2, 3]

Etymology

The epithet neilcrouchii honours Prof. Neil R. Crouch. [2, 4]
