Aloe deltoideodonta subsp. amboahangyensis

Overview

Aloe deltoideodonta subsp. amboahangyensis is an accepted subspecies of Aloe deltoideodonta in the current WCVP and occurs in southern Madagascar. It was originally described from granitic ground north of Amboahangy. [1, 2, 3]

Growth form

Stemless and offsetting, forming many rosettes. [2]

Leaves

Leaves are erect-spreading to recurved, pale green to yellowish and bluish-pruinose. [2, 3]

Leaf surface and margin

Leaf margins bear numerous very small deltoid teeth that become indistinct toward the upper third. [2]

Inflorescence and flowers

Inflorescences may be unbranched or branched; the perianth is orange with green tips. [2]

Distribution

It occurs in southern Madagascar and has been recorded north of Amboahangy and around Amboahangy–Anadabolava. [1, 2, 4, 5]

Habitat

It is associated with desert or dry shrubland and is recorded on granitic rocky substrate. [1, 2, 3, 5]

Etymology

The epithet amboahangyensis refers to occurrence near Amboahangy in Madagascar. [6]
