Distribution

Native to Cape Provinces, Lesotho, KwaZulu-Natal, Free State, and Northern Provinces. Introduced in Baleares, Corse, Portugal, Spain, Italy, Sicilia, Canary Is., St.Helena, Mauritius, Réunion, Norfolk Is., New South Wales, Queensland, South Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand North, New Zealand South, Mexico Central, Mexico Northeast, and Argentina Northeast. Etymology

The specific epithet maculata refers to the spotted leaves and derives from Latin maculatus (“spotted”). [2]
