Carterほか（2011）は、典型的な個体群の分布として、Ethiopia中部・南部のRift Valleyの湖沼周辺を記載しています。 [4]
生育環境
Carterほか（2011）は、典型的な個体群についてAcacia林、耕地周辺や垣根、砂質土壌の山腹、標高1,300–1,800 mを記載しています。別に記載されたsubsp. megalacanthoidesへ一律には当てはめません。 [4]
